I really wanted this to be a stellar review since I've heard such amazing things about Bella Union. The small dinning area off the entrance feels uninviting and out of place. The food was good but not great. Service was decent. I was really expecting more and I think with their reputation they could do more to make people feel welcomed and comfortable. I would do away with the small dinning area and make reservations necessary. With less hustle the service could improve and if the kitchen isn't rushed the food would live up to the hype.
The food was good. The service was good. Several people in my party complimented their meals. I recommend sitting outside where the roof is the branches of an old tree.
Great food and cocktails. Outside seating is very unique with tree branches and vegetation overhead. Live band was playing inside the dining area and saloon when we visited on a Friday night. Service was good. Highly recommend trying if your in the area.
The Bella is always casual but lively, has a great bar, several indoor dining rooms (even a room perfect for book clubs), an a lovely outdoor patio. A great all-around restaurant in Jacksonville!
Sunday brunch at Bella Union is always fantastic! The back patio is absolutely beautiful with chubby little birds singing in the branches and artsy decorations adorning a rustic fence. Brunch comes with incredible (and slightly addictive) coffee cake and muffins and all of the options are exceptionally delicious. The service is friendly and considerate and the atmosphere is always joyful.
